Christmas Card 2013

So maybe I'm just a little bit crazy.... but I started
thinking about my Christmas cards back in September!
I had decided that I wanted to get some pictures taken at
the cabin my husband's side of the family has been
in the processing of building this year. My family was all
going to be there for a long weekend in September, so it
worked out perfectly for my sister to take the pictures for us.

The picture below is a cell phone screen shot of the card,
so it's a little blurry, but the actual cards turned out great!

I found this printable online that I thought would
be something cute and different to use in a card.

I already had the red frame so all I did was get
chalkboard vinyl from Hobby Lobby and then while I
was getting ready, my mom and sister put it on
a piece of cardboard sized to fit the frame. It really
worked well to have 2 people working on it. Oh, and
they used a boxcutter on the vinyl to cut it.

My sister used the printable I found as a
guide to draw on the words.... she did a great job!

After I decided on a picture (which really wasn't
easy... my husband wasn't in the mood to get
pictures done, and it was obvious!), Rebekah added
the little bit of wording at the bottom of the picture.
I think it mimics the style of the lettering on the chalkboard
pretty well! Then we emailed the picture to office depot
and they printed off 500 pictures on cardstock and cut them
to size. The lady there gave me two different discounts
which took about $45 off the final price! She said it was
because we had to wait longer than usual due to a rather
difficult customer who was ahead of us in line.

For envelopes, I grabbed some from Hobby Lobby when
they were 40% off. I stuffed them during the car ride
to my in-laws for Thanksgiving, addressed the cards on
Thanksgiving Day, and my father-in-law and 2 year old
niece helped me seal the envelopes!  I still have a few more
that I need to get in the mail tomorrow... and a handful to give
out to people when I see them at church on Sunday, but the
majority of them have all been sent/given out.

Hope you like it! Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas from Switzerland!

My husband and I were fortunate enough to take
a trip to Switzerland in October... so that's what our
Christmas Card showed this year. We didn't really
plan on taking this trip - Isaiah was selected for a training
in Switzerland with his work and only had about a month's
notice. So I flew across the pond on the last day of his
training, and we spent 5 more days going from city
to city.... Lausanne, Montreux, Zermatt, and Geneva... and
even spent an evening in Evian, France.

Some of the highlights of the trip... visting the Olympic
Museum, which is on a boat, in Lausanne, visiting
Chauteau de Chillon in Montreux, and seeing the Matterhorn
in Zermatt. It was definitely an amazing trip and I'm so
thankful that I was able to go!

Anyways, my Christmas card was ordered from Wal-Mart.com
and I have my sister to thank for finding the template =) The
price was extremely reasonable - 28 cents per card including
envelopes... and considering the fact that I ordered 450 cards,
I was REALLY glad for the low price! I had them shipped to
the nearest Wal-Mart, and picked them up a few days later.

The return address stamp I used was ordered from
expressionery.com. I saw the stamps a few years ago in my
US Weekly magazines (my guilty pleasure, don't judge me!)
and have used them the last couple of years. There are all kinds of
designs for return address stamps - the picture below is the one from
their website, because I'm not about to post my mailing address!
But this is the style that I used this year.
Merry Christmas from the Haynie's!

**Christmas Cards 2011... and 2010**

I love getting photo Christmas cards from people,
so I decided when I got married that I would send
photo Christmas cards too =) I wanted to share this
year's Christmas card with y'all... and throw in last year's
card too.  Here's the front and back of the cards:
I bought silver tinsel garland and used a cricut to cut
out the letters, and then just hot glued them to the garland.
My sister, Rebekah, took the pictures one day when
Isaiah and I went to visit her (and her hubbie) in Louisville, KY.
We went to a local park and Rebekah just started clicking away.
It was pretty cold, so we didn't stay outside for long!
And Isaiah was such a good sport about it!!
The same evening, we uploaded the pictures to Vistaprint.
I choose an oversized postcard.  Since the garland said
"Merry Christmas," I didn't feel like it was necessary to have
the design of the card say something as well.

Here's some other pictures from that day:

AND... here's the silly pictures when we needed
to have a little fun!!

This yawn meant I was TIRED and DONE!
But it really was fun and took less than an hour.
Thanks sis for taking, uploading, and editing
the pictures for my Christmas card!!
And here's our Christmas card from 2010... since we got
married earlier that year, I decided to use a wedding picture.
This was a Vistaprint creation too....

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
God bless!
