Royal Family Kids Camp Dinner & Silent Auction

A couple weeks ago I helped with a fundraiser for Royal Family
Kids Camp, which is a camp sponsored by my church for children in
the foster care system. It was a huge success, raising $5,191!!! That's
almost half of the total amount needed for the camp this summer.

I helped decorate for the dinner portion of the silent auction. Since
it was a fundraiser, I really wanted everything to be FREE! Otherwise,
it kind of defeats the purpose of raising money!!!

The theme of the dinner/silent auction was a Family Fun Day.... the
organizers wanted people to stay at the church for the afternoon while
bidding on the different items. Two inflatables were set up, there was
a Wii set up for people to play on, and a room with all kinds of
board games was also set up.  So I used the "gaming" idea in my
decorations.

I made 4 pennants out of paper that was already at church -
ROYAL FAMILY
KIDS CAMP
DINNER AND
SILENT AUCTION

I made the letters look as much like Scrabble tiles
as I could - putting the Scrabble value beside each
letter. I separated the words with the pink star that is
in the middle of a Scrabble board.

Each of the 12 centerpieces was a different board game
box - Monopoly, Apples to Apples, Balderdash, Scrabble,
Moods, etc. with a fabric vase on top of the board game. The fabric
vases are just aluminum cans, wrapped in fabric, with a couple fabric
rosettes glued on them. I hot glued cards from the board game to
a wooden stick, and put that inside the fabric vase, which also had
some fabric inside it to help hold the wooden stick in place.

It wasn't by any means AMAZING decorating, but I was pleased
that I was able to do all of that for ZERO DOLLARS!!
