Fall Felt Flower Wreath and Some Thanksgiving Decor

So I had my Halloween decorations out about a week longer than
I should have.... but I finally got rid of the jack o' lanterns and
the BOO wreath, and put out this gorgeous fall wreath!

This wreath is one that I've had for a few years that my
sister made and I just love it! I think the colors look so
great together and really stand out against the white yarn.

I also switched out the guest bathroom Halloween decor... got a
$1 hand towel from Target & put out this Thanksgiving printable.

I really try not to skip over the Thanksgiving holiday and move
straight to Christmas.... it's pretty hard though! We have never spent
Thanksgiving at our house - usually either at my in-laws or visiting
my grandma in Tennessee. And I do so much decorating at Christmas
that I like to get a headstart so I can enjoy it longer.

So my plan for the evening is to start putting outside lights up...
but I definitely won't be turning them on until after Thanksgiving!
I'd just rather do it when the weather is somewhat nice, instead of
freezing my tushie off a few weeks from now!

Who else decorates early for Christmas?!?!?

Halloween Decor... & Some Pumpkin Painting

This is the first year I've ever put out
any fall/Halloween decorations INSIDE my
house... I didn't go all out or anything, but
I really like the little bit that I did! It's a good
start anyways, and I think I'll just keep adding
to it each year, because I kinda like it!

I already had the black stands and orange burlap.
I found the candle at Marshall's, and the owl and
pumpkins came from Big Lots! I couldn't believe
what cute stuff they had there!! While I like everything
that's on the table, I still think it's missing something...
But at this point I will just wait til next year to add to it.
I really like the mixture of the white, silver and black items.

I found this cute little towel at Target for $1... you can't
get much better than chevron and polka dot pumpkins!

For one of the guest bathrooms, I found
this adorable hand towel from Target.
The glittery pumpkin is also from Big Lots.
And this is one of the printables that I shared
last year (click HERE). I'm loving it!!

The second guest bathroom is decorated more for fall than
for Halloween... and I only just added a multi color pumpkin
(another find from Big Lots). It's the same colors that the bathroom
is done in, so it really looks perfect in there. I like it =)

So that about sums up the inside decorating that
I did this year.... not a bad start, right?!?

The rest of this doesn't have anything to do with decorating,
but I'm adding it because it all happened around the same time.....

We had some friends over for Sunday lunch a couple weeks
ago. I grabbed plates, napkins, and cups from Target for $1
each, and the bowls and straws from the dollar store.

I borrowed this burlap pennant from our church (one of the
many random but useful things that I'm glad was donated
to the church...  instead of just throwing it away).

I made potato soup (click HERE for the recipe) & cheesy
crescent rolls. One family brought delicious pumpkin
pie, and another family brought appetizers - pepperoni
chips, perogies, and sausage dip/chips! Yum Yum!

There were four kids that came over with their parents,
so I got the supplies for the kids to paint and decorate their
own pumpkin. It entertained them and was a really easy
setup... I got a couple plastic tablecloths from the dollar store
and put one on the floor and one over the table. I set out
paint, eyeballs, poms, glitter, and glue and let the kids have at it!

They had fun and so did I.... but the pumpkin I painted ended
up looking more like an Easter egg... wrong holiday, Rachel.
 Happy Halloween!!!

5 DAYS OF FALL GIVEAWAYS, DAY 3: Orange Mini Wreath

Alright.... DAY 3 of free wreaths is here!
Most of the wreaths I make for myself
are pretty neutral... but I LOVE the pop of
orange on this one! This is a smaller wreath,
but it still looks pretty good on a front door.

I just wrapped strips of orange fabric
around a straw wreath, made a few felt
flowers (ivory and brown), and added
a huge burlap bow. I had played around
with adding other stuff to it,  but finally
decided that I liked it just the way it is...
sometimes, less is more!

STEPS TO TAKE TO WIN!
So to win this wreath, you only have
to do both of these two simple things:
1. Leave a comment on the blog (not facebook,
unless you just want to do that too!!)
2. Share this blog post on Facebook

You have until Saturday, October 12th at midnight
to comment/share. Winners of all 5 wreaths will be
announced Sunday, October 13th! If you missed the
last two days of free wreaths, click on the links below:

There's still a really good chance that if you
comment/share, you will win!! Seriously, the
odds are definitely in your favor =)

Happy Hump Day!

5 DAYS OF FALL GIVEAWAYS, Day 2: Pennant Wreath

The second fall wreath in the
5 Days of Fall Giveaways is a
Burlap Welcome Pennant Wreath!

FYI-I took pics of the wreath before I
noticed the the "M" on welcome had
come a little loose from the yarn. I've already
fixed it, but forgot to take another pic. Oops.

So I previously mentioned that I have about nine fall
wreaths. To make room for some new ones, I decided
to give away some of the ones I've had for a while.
This wreath is one that's left over from a reception in
2011 that welcomed our new worship pastor and his wife.

I just cut strips of burlap fabric (at the time, the craft
stores didn't sell spools of burlap ribbon!) and hot glued
them around a straw wreath.  I also made fabric rosettes out
of various fall  fabric colors. My sister made the mini pennants
out of scrapbook paper and yarn. I think it's just adorable!! It
looks especially cute with burlap ribbons around my pumpkins...
so now I'm wondering - Why am I giving this wreath away??
I guess it's just your lucky day/week!!!

So if you want it, there's a REALLY good chance
that it'll be yours! All you have to do is:
1. Leave a comment on this blog post.
2. Share this post on facebook.

Did you comment on and share yesterday's
Tri-Color Yarn Wreath post?? If not, you should!
You have til midnight on Saturday (Oct. 12th).
Winners of all five wreaths will be
announced on Sunday, October 13th!

5 DAYS OF FALL GIVEAWAYS, DAY 1: Tri Color Yarn Wreath

Alright... I promised more giveaways, and even though
I meant to do it sooner - better late than never, right?

So over the next FIVE DAYS, I'll be posting a
different fall themed wreath that you could win.
In order to win that wreath, you have to:

1. Leave a comment below on the blog.
2. Share the link on Facebook.

Good luck! You have until midnight on
Saturday, October 12, to comment/share.
Winners of all 5 wreaths will be announced
on Sunday, October 13th!!

First Up: Tri-Color Yarn Wreath

I think this wreath is so very simple and pretty! I used
tan, brown, and copper yarn around a straw wreath. The
felt rosettes are ivory with pearls, and have a few felt leaves.

If you want this wreath to be hanging on your front door,
all you have to do is leave a comment below (on the blog,
not facebook) and then share this post on facebook. That's it!

Check back tomorrow for another cute fall wreath....

Another FALL Deco Mesh Wreath

A couple weeks ago I shared a deco mesh
wreath that I made for my mom.... well, a
family friend of ours loved my mom's wreath
so much... I decided to make a similar one for
her. I lucked out and didn't even have to
make another trip to the craft store!

For this wreath, I used brown deco mesh around
the inner and outer circles, then the orange deco
mesh in the middle.  I found this FALL sign at
AC Moore (40% off) and attached it to the deco
mesh with fishing line.  I hot glued berries and
pumpkins around the perimeter to finish it up.

Hope you like it Mike and Sandy!!
I'm kind of getting the urge to make
a new fall wreath for myself... picked up
a couple supplies Sunday, so hopefully
it turns out as good as it looks in my mind =)

My First Yarn Wreath.... Three Years Ago!

So, in an effort to have something else to post
this week, I'm sharing my very first attempt at
making a yarn wreath... which was 3 years ago!
You don't mind that I'm sharing old stuff, right?
Anyways, for my first attempt, I thought I did
an OK job! Except for the picture-taking...
Sorry for the white glare in the corner.

This wreath was made using a styrofoam
wreath form, before I realized that straw
wreath forms existed. I used brown glittery
yarn that is really pretty, but also REALLY
thin, so it took forever to wrap! After that I
realized I should buy thicker yarn. I hot glued
fake flowers to it-love these colors together!

I still have this wreath and even though some of
the flowers have fallen off over the years, I really
can't seem to part with it! I might even try to fluff
it up a little and use it this year, because I still love it!!

Twine Initial Wreath with Fall Colors

So back in July, I posted about this same kind of
wreath (click HERE).  But over the weekend, I
made another one of these for my friend, Jodi.
She saw the one I have and said she would like
one for fall. So what do you think?!?

I already had the paper flowers (from a bridal
shower we did a while back - click HERE) and
also had the ribbon and twine in my growing
collection of craft supplies. So the only thing I
purchased was the wooden E from Hobby Lobby.

I worked on this wreath during the drive up
to our family's cabin at Summersville Lake...
I LOVE that we have an adapter to be able
to plug in my hot glue gun in the car!

It was dark when I wanted to work on this project,
and of course I wasn't allowed to have the overhead
lights on... but luckily, my redneck husband had a head
lamp in the truck =) I really try to always have a project
to work on during a road trip - I feel so much more
productive and it makes the trip seem to go by faster.

When I brought the finished product in to work
to deliver to Jodi, I got some requests to make the
same thing from a few of my other coworkers =)

It looks great against Jodi's door =)

I'm 1 Proud Craft "Mom"... Fall Initial Yarn Wreath by Jodi

I just have to brag on my friend, Jodi, who has
started getting into the whole DIY wreath craze.
She wanted to get a wreath for her brother and
sister-in-law to put up at their new house. Originally,
she wanted to buy one for them, but was persuaded
that she could definitely make something herself.
And here's what she came up with:

Jodi made these flowers by watching youtube
videos - I am so impressed! The larger flowers
she hot glued to the wreath and then reinforced with
pearl corsage pins.  The smaller flowers were
attached with only the pins. I love the fun colors she
chose for the flowers, and that she made different kinds.

She found these O rings that are for curtains,
tiebacks and hangings. She looped ribbon
into the O and pinned the ribbon to the wreath
with the corsage pins. The length can easily be
changed or removed altogether. Such a cute idea =)

I'm such a proud craft mom haha! Ususally, wreaths
like this sell for $35-$40 on Etsy.  But Jodi spent just a
little over $20 on the supplies for this wreath and a little bit of
time. Definitely worth it, in my opinion! But just because
Jodi has shown me that she CAN make a wreath doesn't
mean I won't make them for her anymore... I'm in the
process of making a fall one for her right now! I should
have it finished after this weekend, as long as I can use
my hot glue gun in the car on our road trip =)

Harvest Blessings Deco Mesh Wreath

My mom asked me to make her a fall
themed wreath.  She wanted deco mesh
to be used, and preferred to not have an
initial on it. So this is what I came up with:
I used orange deco mesh for the inner and outer
circles of the wire wreath. I used brown deco mesh
in the middle circle. I searched high and low for a
sign that I would like for the middle of the wreath - this
one isn't exactly what I was looking for, but it is still
cute. I found it at AC Moore and it was 40% off =) I
used fishing line to secure the sign to the deco mesh.

My sister helped me make a final decision on what
to put around the rest of the wreath... I couldn't quite
make up my mind, so it was nice that she made the
decision for me! The pumpkins and berries are from
Hobby Lobby and were hot glued to the mesh.  It turned out
very pretty, and my mom seemed pleased with it!

I have a lot of these supplies leftover, so I've decided
to make a similar one for someone in particular... hoping
to get it done soon, and when I do, I'll be sure to share!

Brown and Cream Yarn Wreath... First Giveaway!!!!

As I was sorting through my wreaths trying to
decide what to hang up, I realized that I have NINE
different fall-themed wreaths! And I haven't even
made any new ones yet this year... I usually give
wreaths to friends of mine who aren't too crafty when
I'm done using them, but I decided this time I'd see
if any of my blog-readers would want this one...

MY FIRST GIVEAWAY!!!

My sister and I worked on this wreath together.
I wrapped brown shiny speckled yarn around a straw wreath.
The cream felt flowers were made by Rebekah.
She is better at making them, and honestly, she has more
patience than I do to sit down and make this many!

I honestly think that this wreath doesn't really pop enough
against a glass-front door... but I think it would look great
against a colored door!! Also, I don't currently have a ribbon
on the wreath to hold it up - but if you win the wreath, I will
add a ribbon the color of your choice before getting it to you!

So if you want this wreath, here's the
2 simple things you gotta do to win it!

1. Share this link on Facebook.
**if we aren't Facebook friends and your profile is set to
private, please make sure you allow me to view the share**
2. Leave a comment below on the blog.

That's it!! You have til 7:00 pm on Sunday, September 15th
to share and comment. I'll announce the winner on
Monday, September 16th! And listen, it's not like I have
a crazy amount of people that read this thing... so if you
do these steps, there's a REALLY good possibility that
you'll win! Ha!

Chevron Initial Grapevine Wreath

I'm featuring another wreath today that I didn't
make, but I think it's perfect for this time of year!
It was made by my sister, Rebekah, and her friend, Kathryn.
Kathryn made the letter, and Rebekah put the letter on the
wreath. I mean seriously, who doesn't love chevron?!?
It's another easy wreath that anyone is capable of making!

Everything was purchased at Hobby Lobby.

Materials:
grapevine wreath
wooden letter
scrapbook paper
flower (from the papercrafting section)
mod podge & foam brush
hot glue and scissors

Directions:
Trace the letter onto the scrapbook paper
and cut out. Mod podge the paper to the letter.
Hot glue the flower onto the letter.
Hot glue each corner of the letter onto the wreath.

I love it! Good job Rebekah and Kathryn!

Burlap Initial Wreath

Today I'm featuring my sister-in-law's wreath
that she made this week! Kelly loves fall wreaths,
but for the beginning of September, she wanted
something different than the typical fall wreath.
Something that works when it doesn't really feel
like fall yet. I think she came up with the perfect idea!

She bought a straw wreath, a black N (her last
name is Neal), 2 striped flowers, 3 polka dot flowers,
and some burlap ribbon - all for less than $20!

It literally took her 10 minutes to make this wreath...
All she had to do was:
1. Wrap the burlap around the wreath.
2. Clip the stems of flowers and shove them into the
burlap/wreath form, and then support them with hot glue.
3. Glue the inital N to the wreath.

So even if you don't consider yourself a crafty person,
you can still make an adorable wreath! Good job Kelly!!

Thumbtack Monogrammed Pumpkin

I saw the idea of decorating a pumpkin using thumbtacks on
Pinterest last year and didn't get around to making one then, so I
just HAD to do it this year! And I'm so glad I did, because I love it!

I just wanted a simple monogram ("H" for my last name). Of course,
the easiest way to do this would have been to print the letter from the
computer, but I wasn't really thinking about the most efficient way to do
things.... but I'll tell you what I did.  I had a wooden H that was curvy.
I traced the H onto newspaper and cut it out.
I just placed the newspaper on the pumpkin, and attached it with thumbtacks
to keep it in place.  I completed one section at a time, and had to overlap the
thumbtacks in order to completely cover all the newspaper.
It was a very simple project - the hardest part was finding silver thumbtacks!
I went to 3 different stores before I found what I needed at Michael's!
This size letter took about 200 thumbtacks. If I had to do it over again, I would
have started the letter lower on the pumpkin. Sitting right in front of it, I thought the
letter was low enough, but when it's sitting on the ground, it's a little too high on the
pumpkin for my liking.  But regardless, it's still adorable, and I love that I can keep it
on my porch well past Halloween and on into the Thanksgiving season!

Burlap Initial with Floral Fall Wreath

I made a new wreath over the weekend... totally stole the idea
from a wreath I saw at Hobby Lobby!! It was one of the easiest
wreaths I've ever made.... and one of the cutest!!

Supplies:
12" straw wreath
ribbon (took every bit of 9 yards that was 1.5" wide)
wooden H letter
burlap
fake flowers/berries/leaves
glue gun & scissors

Directions:
Wrap ribbon around wreath, hot gluing to secure it to the wreath.
Hot glue burlap to the wooden letter.
Trim off any excess burlap, glue the edges down over the sides (the hardest step for me)
Hot glue the letter in place on the wreath.
Arrange the foiliage around the letter and hot glue in place.

Could it BE any easier?!?!?
Mine doesn't look EXACTLY like the one at Hobby Lobby - it was
a little more elaborate, with the foliage hanging down - but I was happy
with how it turned out =) Here is the inspiration wreath from Hobby Lobby:

I think the wreath accentuates the mums and pumpkins that
I have out on my front porch... everything is pretty simple though.
I just tied a couple yellow bows to the pumpkins, and wrapped the
yellow mums with burlap.  But I still think it looks nice!

Happy Fall Y'all!!
